Wessex Saddleback Pork

We are quality Wessex Saddleback pork producers. Wessex Saddleback pigs are listed as 'critically endangered' by the Rare Breeds Trust of Australia. The Wessex does well when free range, produces excellent pork and compliments the mix of animals on our farm nicely. They are very cute too! See photos in the gallery.

We are currently acquiring more breeding stock and we anticipate pork being available year round in the near future. The Wessex Saddlebacks are one of the best eating pigs, and there is high demand by chefs and foodies. Quality always comes at a price, and Wessex Saddleback pigs are slower maturing than the commercial varieties, but it's worth the wait!

Why such a rare breed? Basically to help maintain genetic diversity in this increasingly mass produced and homogenised world, and they also taste much better than the commercial hybrids.

Of course, our pigs free range on biodynamic pastures, are fed quality natural foods free of chemical additives. They also have access to clean water at all times, access to wallows, access to shelters for protection from the elements, and are also protected from predators. They do not have their teeth 'clipped' or tails 'docked', and are not 'nose ringed' either, so they can behave as nature intended. Stress free, quality assured, happy and healthy pigs - just the way they should be.

Wessex Saddleback Pork Packs

We offer two different sized packs of genuinely free range, chemical free and certified rare breed pork.

10kg @ $16 per kg
The 10kg pack includes: Scotch fillet, Loin chops, medallions, Leg roast, Spare ribs, Mince and Sausages.
10kg fits easily into a standard domestic fridge/ freezer, with room to spare.

5kg @ $19 per kg
The 5kg pack includes: Scotch fillet, Loin chops, medallions, Leg roast, Spare ribs.

The above packs are sold by weight so the prices will vary slightly and you only pay for what you get.

Pork mince @ $17 per kg. The mince is very lean, and when combined with our beef mince, it makes the 'best' bolognese, meat patties and rissoles. Our bags of mince weigh approx. 500 grams.

Pork sausages @ $13 per kg. The sausages are lean, in natural casings, gluten and preservative free. There are usually 6 sausages to a bag and a bag weighs around 450 grams.
